It would have been sacrilege not to pick up this enchanting ode to travel whilst on my own journey, and I’m so glad that I did.
It’s about an Andulasian shepherd boy who travels far from his homeland in search of treasure in Egypt and discovers the treasures within along the way. The Alchemist is a fable of following one’s dreams.
It is surprisingly profound and unforgettable for a book that takes just a few hours to read!
This is a book to be read at any time, because if you aren’t already travelling you’ll certainly want to by the end. Above all else it is a fantastic celebration of the world and the people in it.
